4th International Day of Yoga was celebrated in BITS, Pilani on Thursday June 21, 2018. An Online Essay Competition was organized for students of Pilani Campus on the topic “Effects of Yoga on Physical and Mental Health.” The students were advised to submit their individual entries of essays of 1000 words. Three certificates for best participant students were given to Mr. Pravin Brijgopalji Murkya, Mr. Prakhar Ranjan and Mr. Bilwasiva Basu Mallick.
The Yoga Session was organized at Students Activities Centre (SAC), Pilani Campus. Mr. Dinesh Kumar, President, Rastra Nirman Trust and a well-known on-campus trainer of Yoga conducted the yoga session and Yogacharya Dinesh Kumar started the Yoga examination of Yoga Camp with the prayer of Gayatri and Mahamrutunjaya Mantra in Sunrise. The practice of subtle, Cạ̄lana Kriyas Loosening exercise, various types of Yogāsanas, pranayama and meditation were made with natural music. Completion of yoga camp, with the resolution of Vansudhivutambakam, peace with the text. All the participants enjoyed the immense pleasure of Yoga with the enchanting Om Dhawni playground music.
Prof. A. K. Sarkar, Director, Pilani Campus, Prof. S K Verma, Prof. Kumar Neeraj Sachdev, Prof. Shibasish Chowdhury, Prof. Anshuman Dalvi and many students, staff and their family members participated in the Yoga Session. Participants were given certificates of attendance. There were three prizes and certificates for best participants, which Prof. A. K. Sarkar handed over to Ms. Pratibha Kumari, Mr. Jangir and Dr. Naveen Singh. Alongside Yoga Session, an interesting exhibit of posters of yoga postures was also put up.
